A thousand meters of histories

historical center gironaNord 1901’s walls keep the history of Doctor Massa family, a spiritual son of his time fin de siècle. Just go out in Nord street and walk few steps. You will see the bridge Peixateries velles, known as Eiffel Bridge –it was building by these French engineers. Walk a hundred meters more and take Força street, artery in ancient Jew neighbourhood that burned in XIV century. But still keeps some mystics secrets among the walls of palaces. The view from this point is a monumental town that belonged to bishops from X to XVIII century. I climb to the top of defensive walls and it’s like I can see Napoleon troops besieging the city in 1809. I come back to city along Portal Nou street. I take a great dinner in a little restaurant open at same time that democracy arrived –endings 70’s-, libertarian and arty La Penyora. Sturdy Pont de Pedra –stone bridge build in 1856- make me come back to the real time and quiet middle class streets. Nord 1901 say welcome and promise me more histories to discover…
